I love French Onion soup and order it almost every time I see it at a restaurant. These French Onion Sloppy Joes are a much easier and quicker version of the delicious soup.

Ingredients
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 White Onion, thinly sliced
4 Brioche Buns
1 Tablespoon of butter
1lb ground beef (85/15 lean)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons Soy sauce
2 teaspoons dried thyme
1/4 cup Swiss cheese shredded
Salt and Pepper to preference
Steps
In a large pan, heat the olive oil and put the thinly sliced onions in. Cook on low heat stirring occasionally until the onions are caramelized. About 10 - 15 minutes.
In the meantime slice open the Brioche Buns and lightly brush the inside of each bun with butter.
Place the buns open faced on a baking sheet and toast in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 - 5 minutes.
Once your onions have caramelized, add 1lb ground beef.
Season the beef with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and thyme.
Mix well and cook the beef thoroughly.
Spoon the beef and onion mixture onto the 4 bottom buns. Top with shredded Swiss cheese.
Broil in the oven for 1 - 2 minutes on low, watch closely to now burn.
Enjoy with a green salad or veggies for a nice side to balance the hearty sandwich.
Tips
Be sure to not over cook the buns or they will dry out.
You could easily use sliced swiss cheese if you prefer a slightly less mess than shredded.
I typically prefer extra lean ground beef but for this recipe the 85/15 is better.
